Only The Best Coffee
Only The Best Coffee
There are thousands of coffee roasters out there, from one man bands to vast multi-national corporations roasting coffee in enormous quantities, so you may wonder how we select only the best coffee?
The process certainly isn’t easy, but having owned and run a very focused specialty coffee shop in the past, and one that was not tied to a specific roaster, I had already tasted and sold coffees from scores of roasters from around the world prior to helping to establish Specialty Coffee Home. This gave us an extremely good starting point and meant that we could discard a larger number of roasters producing decent, but uninspiring coffees – we’re only interested in the very best.
We’re interested in coffees that have complexity – much like a fine wine – but are also consistent. This means working with roasters who choose only the highest graded specialty coffee, who seek out rare and interesting lots, and, perhaps, most importantly, get the absolute best out of these coffees time after time. This means perfectly developed coffees that exhibit the individual characteristics of the varietal and the terroir – we’re not interested in blends or over-roasted beans
Our shortlist of roasters was soon created using previous experience, in addition to our tasting coffees from innumerable roasters from around the world. Eventually we settled on two that I regularly ran in my coffee shop – Colonna Coffee and Round Hill Roastery, two that I had extensively tasted in the past and found to be consistently excellent – Rubens Gardelli and The Cupping Room, and a Spanish roaster – Right Side – which is seen little outside of Spain, but is producing stunning coffees.
In the future we will add further roasters from around the world that complement our existing offering. You can guarantee that these will only be exceptional roasters offering the most unique coffees that have been extensively tasted by us before their inclusion.
